As refugees and migrants continue to seek a new home in member states of the European Union, it is important to recognize that many of them lack knowledge about the history of their new country. This lack of familiarity can hinder their ability to understand new institutions, practices, values, and customs, making it challenging for them to feel included and participate fully in their new communities.
However, by delving into the historical significance behind these aspects of their new country, immigrants can find commonalities with their own experiences and history, allowing them to make sense of their new environment and build connections with their new community. This deeper understanding can ultimately facilitate their inclusion and active participation in the social, economic, and cultural aspects of their new home.
