CHALLENGE

Refugee children often face severe mental health issues such as PTSD and depression due to war trauma and displacement, impacting their social relationships, education, and overall quality of life. Traditional integration efforts in host countries across the EU remain insufficient, overlooking alternative methods like nature-based interventions.

A set of attractive, innovative, and tailor-made resources and tools to introduce and promote Trauma-Informed Adventure Therapy (TIAT) in refugee integration work, such as alternative sports activities in direct contact with nature (hiking, climbing, aerial games, kayaking).

TIAT Μanual for coaches and trainers

A comprehensive manual to enhance the knowledge and capacity of sports coaches, trainers, and organisations on the benefits of TIAT for war-affected children and young refugees, as well as increase their capacity in implementing TIAT.

Adventure Therapy Good Practice & Recommendations Guide

A guide for adventure sports organisations on effectively promoting TIAT as a tool to empower young refugees and refugee children, helping them improve their mental wellbeing and better integrate into the host community.
