A peer Mentoring and capacity building Integration strategy to ensure TCN inclusion at Regional and local level
An initiative supporting the effective integration of Third-Country Nationals in EU Member States
Operated by: KMOP

CHALLENGE

Despite the adoption of the Common Basic Principles for Immigrant Integration Policy in the EU (November 2004), which emphasises integration as a dynamic, two-way process, many territories across Europe still struggle with limited resources and capacity to address the specific needs and vulnerabilities of Third-Country Nationals (TCNs). While TCNs are expected to embrace EU fundamental values and learn the host language, meaningful opportunities for their participation in the economy and society remain insufficient, hindering effective integration.

“What works” report on effective TCN integration practices

A comprehensive analysis of effective practices and strategies for the integration of Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) and host communities. Based on insights gathered through focus groups with TCNs, migrant associations, and local communities, as well as the mapping of at least five promising practices in each participating country, the report focuses on key areas such as job integration, housing, and financial literacy.

TCN Peer Mentoring Programme

The Peer Mentoring Programme empowers integrated Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) as “persons of trust” to mentor younger peers during their integration process. Developed collaboratively by project partners, it includes practical training modules and complements existing psycho-social support. Initially tested by six experienced partners, the programme targets stakeholders, authorities, and community organizations to enhance local integration efforts.
