Building pathways for empowering secondary school students to become agents of change for environmental and climate action
An initiative promoting innovative environmental and climate change education in schools
PATHWAYS aims to empower secondary school students
to become agents of change for environmental and climate action
Although the damaging effects of climate change are being felt worldwide and are expected to intensify in the coming decades, environmental and climate change education remains insufficiently integrated into the education system. According to the School Education Getaway, only 4% of students feel they know a lot about climate change; 42% believe they have learned a little to nothing about it at school; and 57% are interested in learning more. This highlights the need for a more cross-curricular, competency-based approach in delivering environmental and climate change education that fosters critical thinking and civic activism.
